Huntington University

Case Study

For 15 years, Nichols wrote, designed and published Huntington University’s alumni magazine. Through that long-term relationship, Nichols went beyond simple news articles about the University. Rather, we told compelling stories designed to strengthen the relationship with alumni and other potential donors to prepare for the University’s centennial celebration and capital campaign.

The Midwestern college was well known for its religion and teaching degrees, but other areas of study were going unnoticed, including the outstanding science program. One of the goals of the capital campaign was to raise money for a new science complex, but before raising money it was necessary to change long-held perceptions.

Focused storytelling in the alumni magazine set the stage. The campaign also was supported with collateral material and other tools designed by Nichols to help alumni and donors reimagine the future of Huntington University.

The capital campaign was a success, raising $50 million, greatly surpassing the initial goal of $37 million. Today, a beautiful new science complex and other campus improvements have made Huntington University a top choice for science, pre-med and nursing students.
